The 1,000 dinars dated 1 December 2018 is a note about national traditions and customs. The front shows the Great Mosque of Algiers (Djamaa el Djazaïr), the country’s new principal mosque, whose 265-metre minaret is the tallest in the world.
The back is devoted to craftsmanship: a loom, a coffee pot or tea set, traditional jewellery and a vessel, objects any Algerian would recognise. The watermark shows Emir Abdelkader and the numeral 1000.
For an Algeria collection it is a note of the 2018 series with the world’s tallest minaret, and for «mosques» and «crafts on banknotes» sets it serves two themes at once. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
If you are just starting a collection, the VPcoins catalogue makes it easy to find banknotes to build it around.
